Our foster carers Duncan and Lucy transferred to Fostering Rotherham from an Independent Fostering Agency (IFA), and never looked back. Through our services, they encountered a highly supportive and efficient network on their fostering journey.
“Rotherham delivered what it said on the tin,” they say. “[It] was the most efficient transfer we have ever done by a country mile.”

A supportive environment
When looking to move to a different fostering provider, Duncan and Lucy wanted a support network that was attentive, resourceful and empathetic, not just towards the children in their care but themselves as foster carers.
“Rotherham are more inclusive. We have noticed that the decisions for the children are not driven by costs and profit but are in the best interests of the children. Rotherham's decision making is also more transparent. There is a lot more focus on the carers and the children in care in Rotherham, as it should be” they tell us.
“Every department is there to support us and the child, the therapeutic team, especially, has been a highlight. The level of support from the children’s social worker and our supervising social worker has been immense.”
Their experience has been made even richer by our support groups available to foster
carers, specifically our walking group. These groups give carers the chance to meet and
establish meaningful relationships, so that carers are not only in contact with our team but a wider network.
“We have also benefited from the family support worker who came to support us by
taking the children out for the day which we have never experienced before.”
An efficient team
When making the change to Fostering Rotherham, Duncan and Lucy were met with our
friendly and helpful team.
“The calibre of people in the roles that they are doing is a really good match” they say.
“We are over the moon with the support we have received from Rotherham, Helen is
awesome. David answered all of our questions and queries all the way through the
assessment and Justine has been great. We have also seen that the fostering service is a really stable team.
“Rotherham is all about working cohesively with other departments, such as the
therapeutic team, the children’s social worker and the supervising social worker.
"We believe in Rotherham and are happy to speak to other carers about our
experiences."
